Bacopa Monnieri

Bacopa Monnieri is an amazing supplement used to balance the levels of neurotransmitters and stress hormones, promoting a positive influence on mood, motivation, and memory. Its use goes back at least 3,000 years and was thought to be used by ancient scholars to memorise lengths, hymns, and scriptures, as well as by children to boost brainpower. Supplementing Bacopa Monnieri has been shown to improve cognition, help with reducing anxiety, and improve memory.

It’s often referred to as a general ‘brain tonic’ that is highly heralded in Ayurveda (ancient Indian medicine).

Bacopa Monnieri contains a unique group of bioactive compounds called bacopasides. The Bacopasides are responsible for most of the adaptogenic herb’s major benefits. As such, Savvy uses an extract comprising over 50% Bacopasides to maximise the botanical’s unique benefits and mechanisms.

Amount used: 8-12grams

Active ingredient: Bacopasides

Why:  Your goal is to get about 150mg of Bacopasides in a dose. As this is the clinical effective dose shown by scientific research to have the full effects of the benefits! This is the same amount of active ingredient as seven and a half grams of the herb - but instead of putting several grams of the herb in the drink, we sourced an environmentally-sustainable and strong extract of the herb.

In addition to its cognitive benefits, Bacopa Monnieri supports overall well-being with diverse uses: it promotes better sleep by reducing anxiety, enhances skin health and combats aging through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, aids in hair growth by improving scalp circulation, and may assist with weight management by curbing stress-induced cravings and supporting metabolism.

Main benefits for Savvy:

  • Increases resilience to stress and anxiety while enhancing mood
  • Bacopa Monnieri balances energy, motivation, focus
  • Bacopa increases blood flow to the brain
  • Anti-inflammatory and a potent antioxidant
  • Increases brain-power with more brain cells
  • Can help improve attention and concentration
  • Enhances memory and learning capabilities

To make it easy to identify all the different studies - we will highlight them for you!

We really hope you enjoy our many years of research when formulating Savvy...

Bacopa Monnieri belongs to a small group of botanicals called adaptogens.

Adaptogens help to increase resilience to mental-blockades such as stress and anxiety while promoting overall health by bringing the body into a state of balance. Bacopa Monnieri balances the level of the potentially damaging stress hormone, cortisol.

Adaptogens have the unique ability to simultaneously calm a stressed mind and increase energy without being either sedating or stimulating. They provide a great effect to Savvy happily referred to as “zenergy” - where they keep you in a balanced emotional comfort zone with the right amount of energy and calmness or zen. Besides reducing cortisol, it works by balancing the brain chemicals dopamine, serotonin, and GABA.

Bacopa Monnieri has been found to regulate neurotransmitters, which are the biochemical pathways that brain cells use to communicate with each other.

Neurotransmitters are responsible for balancing energy, motivation, focus, mood, concentration, ability to learn, relax, or go to sleep.

Bacopa Monnieri is responsible for regulating the levels of the most well-known and main neurotransmitters - dopamine (responsible for feeling motivated, energetic, and productive), serotonin (essential for happiness), Gamma-aminobutyric acid [GABA] (which helps with calmness and relaxation) and acetylcholine (which is essential for memory and learning).

Bacopa Monnieri can improve brain plasticity, which is the brain’s ability to keep changing, growing, and forming new neural pathways throughout life.

Bacopa increases the formation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, or BDNF, which encourages new brain cells to form.

Bacopa Monnieri has a benefit to sustained attention and concentration - which is particularly useful when learning at any age.

Bacopa has actually been studied in children — clearly a testament to its safety, with amazing results. Bacopa has been found to be a safe and effective natural solution for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The above clinical trial in 2014 observed that 85% of children who were given a form of Bacopa Monnieri with 40% Bacopasides experienced a reduction in ADHD symptoms, including restlessness, impulsiveness, self-control, and learning problems.

Bacopa Monnieri was traditionally used for enhancing learning and memory. An Australian survey showed Bacopa to be one of the most popular aids for memory. Bacopa extract has shown positive effects on learning and memory, and the benefit is intensified following 4 to 12 weeks of administration.

Bacopa has shown a significant effect on retention of new information and also decreased the rate of forgetting newly acquired information in humans. Which is perfect for the modern age - where remembering key facts clearly while forgetting less things will help you succeed.

The results show a significant effect of the Brahmi on a test for the retention of new information. Follow-up tests showed that the rate of learning was unaffected, suggesting that Brahmi decreases the rate of forgetting of newly acquired information.”

Delicious and actually amazing at reducing stress and making me feel amazing every single lunch time. Could not be more pleased with this.

Had Me At ‘Made By Nutritionists’

I trust nutritionists more than I trust doctors. This drink’s got more good-for-you ingredients than my weekly salad shop and it somehow keeps me sharp through long strategy meetings.

Better Than My Morning Flat White

I used to smash a coffee and a Red Bull before client meetings just to stay sharp. Now I just have this nootropic drink and I’m firing on all cylinders—no crash, no jitters, and it’s actually good for me. My nutritionist wife even approves.

Stronger Than My Ex's Opinions
